Flea market relocated to Sinseol-dong

The Seoul Folk Flea Market will open April 26 near Hwanghakgyo Bridege on Cheonggyecheon 8-ga. The new flea market featuring about 900 booths will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Seoul Flea Market will be housed in a two-storey building whose design was inspired by traditional Korean aesthetics. A tourist information booth will be installed at the main entrance to assist visitors. Located near Cheonggyecheon, visitors to the flea market can enjoy a stroll by the stream as well.

Old photographs, portraits, manual typewriters, old books and other knick-knacks ? ranging from recycled goods to antiques -- will be found at the flea market. Flea markets attract more visitors than actual buyers and the old flea market at Dongdaemun Stadium, which is replaced by the new flea market in Sinseol-dong, attracted as many as 10,000 visitors on weekends.

Seoul City plans to develop the Seoul Folk Flea Market into a major international tourist attraction on par with similar flea markets in Sydney, Beijing, Prague and Paris.
